Wallace Burge Obituary

Wayne Wallace Burge passed away on April 6, 2024, after a courageous battle with renal cancer. Wayne was born to Isaac Presnall Burge and Shirley Whatley Burge on September 19, 1943, in Whatley, Alabama. He was a resident of Poquoson for the last 28 years.

From an early age, he was family oriented and always enjoyed being at Ma and Addie’s house with his many cousins and brothers. He continued being active with his son’s activities from Indian Guides, The Scouts, wrestling, coaching baseball at Seaford, waterskiing, snow skiing and tubing.

Wayne was a subcontractor for over 40 years with Sperry, Unisys and PSI International. He was a division supervisor in the Flight Simulation Department at Nasa Langley.

As an active member of Seaford Baptist Church, he enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and worship team. He worked on many committees and mission trips with the youth.

Wayne enjoyed umpiring little league, high school and college baseball, along with hunting, fishing, boating, crossword puzzle, sudoku, playing cards and reading. He loved rebuilding anything broken and watching anything Auburn.

Wayne is reunited in Heaven with his parents and many other family members.

His memory is cherished by his loving wife of 37 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Siam Burge; children, Stephen Burge, Richard Burge, Dwight Burge, and Clinton Burge; grandchildren, Mariah Burge and Alyssia Burge; brothers, Richard Burge and wife Linda and Larry Burge and wife Lorraine; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Arleen Siam; and his loyal companion, Duke.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Seaford Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michael Howard, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday morning beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Seaford Baptist Church.
