Howard C. Abdill, Sr., age 78, known to many as "Cunner", a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson joined loved ones in heaven, Dec. 12, 2008. Howard retired from civil service at the V. A. Center, Hampton. In "Cunner's" younger years, he enjoyed volunteering at the fire department, playing softball as a pitcher "with a good knuckle ball", going fishing, and playing old hymns & bluegrass music on his guitar.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Abdill; parents, Mary & William Abdill; and a brother, Robert Abdill. He is survived by his three children; Patty Smith & husband, David, Doris Abdill, and Howard (Bubba) Abdill, Jr.; and one grandson, Tyler Smith; all of Yorktown; one sister, Doris Damron & husband, Harold of Newport News; and many nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at Patty & Dave's home. A Funeral service will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel by Rev. Milford C. Rollins. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
