Joseph Anthony Nicosia Jr., 72, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019. He worked as a supervisor for Sturgis Newport Business Forms for many years, and later became part-owner of the Paper House. He enjoyed car racing and followed the Sid Carmines Racing Team. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and the owner of Nicosia Marina.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Sr. and Katherine Holloway Nicosia; grandparents, Ernest and Margaret Holloway; grandson, Leon Nicosia Jr.; and brother, David Nicosia and wife Mabel. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Nicosia King; son, Leon Nicosia and Doris; grandchildren, Samantha Katherine King and Mary Jane Nicosia; former spouse, Jean Merriel Blount; and caretaker for 15 years, Sid Barrett.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1:00-2:00 PM, immediately following by Joe’s funeral service at 2:00 PM led by Pastor Lisa Blackmonson, all at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
