Joseph "Stevie" Thorne, 64, native of Poquoson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and loved ones on December 31,2019 after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.
Throughout high school Stevie played football, baseball, and was on the school’s first wrestling team where they won state championship. Stevie loved anything that had to do with the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved spending time at the beach and going out on the boat with his family. He adored his grandchildren and wouldn't miss a single event they were in for the world. Stevie was the most gentle and kindhearted person you would ever meet. He would never complain even on his roughest days.
Stevie was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Roosevelt Thorne.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Poole, husband R.B.; daughter, Heather Graham, husband Neal Jr; his son, Jarmon Scott Moore, wife Lindsey; his grandchildren, Larry, Haley, Lucas, Micah and Maverick; his sister and faithful caretaker, Melinda Costello; Patricia Sydnor, husband Ed; brother James Thorne, wife Marilyn; his lifelong love and loving caretaker, Joanne Thorne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a few close friends.
