Poquoson - After a long and courageous six year battle with multiple cancers, Leonard “Lenny” Dale Morse, 68, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019. He was a native of Elizabethon, TN and a Poquoson resident for the past 28 years. After graduating from Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, Lenny enjoyed a 40 year career at the shipyard, working his way up to a Rigger General Foreman and also became a Master Shipbuilder. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church. Lenny had a special love of music, which included playing his guitars and singing. During his free time he would enjoy many golf outings and fishing trips with friends and family. In the more recent years, you could find him walking in the park with his two fur babies, Carmella and Balto. He met many new friends during his walks.
Lenny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Morse; sister, Merita Morse; brother, Wayne Morse; and his beloved son, Aaron Morse. He is survived by brothers, Paul Morse and Jimmy Morse (Jean); sisters, Carol Whitley (Ken), Phyllis Thomas (Wayne), Teddy Rohrbach (Sterling), Violet Firth (Jim), Cindy Jenkins and Gail Lesesne (Ralph); special friend, Carol Gardner; former wife, Debbie; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, January, 14, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and at other times the family will receive friends at his niece Lisa Swartzbaugh's home. Leonard's funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 15, 11:00 AM at Emmaus Baptist Church, Poquoson led by Pastor Scott Wade. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
