MARKUS ALEXANDER MOORE, beloved son and brother, went home to be with Jesus on May 26, 2019. Markus was vivacious, kind, loving, and humorous who loved his family, friends and pets. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, showing kindness and love to all things that God created. Markus had an engineering talent from a very young age and was talented with his hands--he loved to create and build with Legos. Markus graduated from Poquoson High School in 2010 and was an honor-roll student his entire high school years. After high school, he entered an apprenticeship program with Canon Virginia, but eventually left Canon to enter the apprentice program at Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS). During his apprenticeship at NNS, he learned and excelled at the machinist trade, which prepared him for his career with L3 Technologies at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a very happy, dedicated, dependable, loyal employee of L3 Technology where he made many friends. Markus enjoyed the shipbuilding work and contributed many ideas on how to improve shipbuilding and make systems more efficient. In his personal time, he enjoyed working out, eating healthy and often jogged a 5-mile stretch in Poquoson.
Markus is survived by his parents, Robert and Myra Hill; sisters Cassidy (brother-in-law FT Moulton) and Lindsey Hill; grandparents Margie and Cliff Poole; Linda and Bob Hill; Thurman and Frances Moore; and father, Mark Moore, in addition to a host of dear aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. To honor Markus’ memory, we ask that you show kindness to those you encounter. As he so often did, please extend a helping hand to anyone you see in need as he always noticed the homeless on the street and helped them in any way he could, frequently offering them food and drink. His heart was larger than his body and his kindness knew no boundaries. We find comfort in knowing that he is among the angels, which is what he was to us here on this Earth. The family will receive friends and family at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home on Monday, June 3, 2019, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm and the memorial service will directly follow at 4:00 pm. Interment will be private. Online condolences to claytorrollins.com.
