Mary E. Ames, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was a native of Covington, VA, lived in East Rainelle, WV and Orange, TX, and with her daughter in Yorktown since 1989. Mary was a devoted Christian woman and attended Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, Yorktown since 1989, and was active in the Poquoson Senior Citizens Group.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Ames II; parents, Walter L. & Lottie Mae Carper; sister, Helen Mae Carr; grandson, Michael P. Boole; and son-in-law, George Michalos. She is survived by her daughter, Jo-Anne A. Michalos; son, William Edward Ames III & wife of Orlando, FL; siblings, Walter L. Carper of Murrells Inlet, SC, Hazel C. LaRue of Palm Bay, FL, Jeanne Monson of Salt Lake City, UT, and Harry G. Carper of Summersville, WV; six grandchildren, Rick Boole, Mike Boole, Ron Boole, Keith Boole, Aaron Ames, and Erica Ames; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8, 1:00-2:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, immediately followed by a Celebration of Mary's life at 2:00 PM at the funeral home by Dr. Michael Condrey. Burial will be in West Virginia at a later date.
