Patricia G. Sampson, 78, passed away at home on December 19th, 2018. A native of Waynesville, North Carolina, Patricia was a long-time resident of Poquoson and loved her city. She was a Colonel's assistant at Langley Air Force Base for HQ Air Combat Command and retired after 35 years of loyal and faithful service. Patricia also volunteered at the Animal Aid Society for 9 years where she was the treasurer; she wrote and published the monthly newsletter, helped care for the animals as well as rescue some of them. She was an avid dog lover and Doberman Pinschers were her passion. She supported numerous Doberman rescue groups and over the years, had 11 of her own to love and care for.
Patricia is preceded in rest by her parents, Waldo and Mila Green; her husband of fifty-seven years, Ray Sampson; and sister, Beatrice Avery. She is survived by her four daughters, Christina Aldridge (Randy), Vickie Sampson Curry, Sherri Sampson Hayward (Rick), and the baby, Sandi Sampson; one brother, Maxie Green (Susan); two sisters, Mickie Palmer and Linda Ximenes (Manny); four grandchildren, Cindi Flaherty (Joe), Kimberly Franklin (Josh), Ronnie Curry, and Sarah Hayward; five great-grandchildren, Christiana Flaherty, Taylor Flaherty, Rosemary Franklin, Josh Franklin, Jr., and Ace Franklin; special friend, David Mosher, and her sweet dog, Winter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Doberman Rescue of Lake Placid at www.dobermanrescue.org. A private service will be handled in the Spring.
