Violet Chapman Goodson

Violet Chapman Goodson, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2018.  Violet was from Ramsgate, England where she met the love of her life, Elmer Lee Goodson, Jr.  They were married for 59 years. 
Violet was a seamstress and she did many alterations in her home after she retired.  She loved to work in her garden and had some of the most beautiful flowers.  She loved to fish and always caught the most and the biggest fish.  She loved to play Bingo too.  Violet was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a Boy Scout leader, a Girl Scout and Brownie Troop leader.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Goodson, Jr.; daughter, Cindy Lee Goodson; her parents, Leonard and Rose Chapman and brother, Roy Chapman.  She is survived by her children: daughter, Anne Goodson and partner Carin; son, Daniel Goodson and wife Shelia; brothers and sisters, Marjorie Smitherman, Les Chapman, Margaret Wilde, Kathleen Hayton, Peter Chapman, Bobby Chapman, Linda Embach and Barbara Slade and extended family in England and Australia; grandchildren, Daniel Goodson, Jr., Tina King, Kendra Briglia, and Kyle Briglia; great-grandchildren,; many nieces and nephews; and her canine companion, Joe.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson.  A memorial service led by Pastor Buddy Chapman will immediately follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be private.
