Aaron Woodcock Obituary

Aaron Joseph Woodcock, 56, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Friday, October 24. Born in Hampton, Virginia, to Terry and Lisbeth Woodcock, Aaron grew up in Yorktown, Virginia. He graduated from Tabb High School in Yorktown and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Art, photography, and teaching were the cornerstones of his life, and he made Richmond his home for most of his years.

From an early age, Aaron was his own person. His artistic talent, evident from grade school, remained a lifelong passion. He always viewed the world differently—zigging when others zagged—and often infused his artwork with his unique perspective. Aaron loved engaging with people through art, whether performing live street drawings or contributing murals to local restaurants and bars.

Outside of his art, Aaron enjoyed racing, collecting Matchbox cars, and competing with neighborhood children in R/C car races. He was an avid movie-watcher often making lists of must-see movies to share with his sister. Aaron also loved Halloween, delighting in carving fantastic pumpkins and wearing creative costumes. He was known for his infectious laugh, big heart, and remarkable ability to connect with anyone, frequently checking in on friends and neighbors to offer support and companionship.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents Terry and Lisbeth Woodcock and his brother, John Woodcock. He is survived by his sister, Meghan Woodcock, and his niece, Katherine Woodcock.

A memorial will be planned at a later date in 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VCUarts in Aaron’s honor: VCUarts Giving. Aaron’s creativity, kindness and love for life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
