Algia "Tootsie" Elswick Propst, of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away March 29, 2020 at her home. Born in Grundy, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Lundy and Maudie Eslwick. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Grafton Baptist Church.
Tootsie is preceded in rest by her husband, William D. Propst; brothers, Lundis Elswick, Otto Elswick; sisters, Melba Looney, Emma Falke; brothers-in-law, Fred Falke, Mike Via, and John Propst.
Left to cherish her memory include her son, Mike Lewis (Sheron) of Grundy, Virginia; her daughter, Melinda Lewis of Yorktown, Virginia; brother-in-law, Clinton Looney; sisters-in-law, Lucy Propst and Sue Via; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Tootsie loved her ladies bible group, reading her Bible or the latest Jan Karon book, working in her yard, creating floral arrangements, singing, decorating and making peanut butter fudge. She was gentle, kind, and generous. She led by example.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Peninsula Rescue Mission and/or the Peninsula Food Bank.
