Annie “Ann” Laura Roundy, of Hampton, passed away at her home on July 1, 2023. She was born on October 9, 1939, in Jeffs (Poquoson), Virginia to Wesley “Forrest” and Mary “Frances” (Sparrer) Freeman.
After marrying Frank, her husband of 64 years, the couple lived in various places during his time in the U.S. Air Force. Upon returning home, the couple made their home in Hampton where he was a firefighter for 27 years.
Annie was a stay-at-home mom and was very active in the P.T.A. and girl scouts. She was a lifetime member in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose.
Annie is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald Lee Roundy; and a brother, Wesley “Capt. Wes” Sparrer Freeman.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters Teresa Roundy and Karen Sparrow of Hampton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Edward “Hard Rock” Freeman of Gloucester Co.; a sister, Bertha Ward of Poquoson; her best friend and childhood partner in crime, Cousin Roy Insley of Poquoson.
A celebration of Ann's life will take place 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Newport News Moose Lodge 1119, 2307 60th Street, Hampton, Virginia 23661. The burial will take place privately at a later date.
