Barry Moore Obituary

Barry Joel Moore, Born March 5, 1952, held on as long as he could before peacefully passing away at his home on November 22, 2021. Preceded in death by his mother, Alma Hopkins Moore and father, George Benjamin Moore as well as his nephew, Jerome Moore; he is now at rest.
Married for almost 25 years to his soulmate Debbie, the only condition he had when he proposed was that they moved back to his beloved town of Poquoson. Along with raising their son Cayce and daughter Georgia, it gave him the opportunity to see more of his oldest son from his first marriage, Greg.
From a very young age he began acquiring the skills of his father and grandfather by working construction. He spent several years in Mississippi sometimes working with his father and others on his own building homes.
As an extremely talented carpenter, his 20-year career with David A. Nice Builders provided lifelong friends and memories of being a road warrior, traveling to over 40 states and making many friends along the way. Once the road was too much, he worked as a carpenter for M & S Home Repair and finally retired from Jacks Carpet and Tile in 2020.
Barry enjoyed improving his game of golf so he could catch up to his brothers’ skills. Always appreciating the simple things like fishing, cutting the grass on his John Deere, sitting under the huge magnolia with his adored cat Rosie, watching his kids on the lacrosse and football field, shooting pool and sharing life lessons with those who would listen brought him great joy. He also looked forward to vacations in the outer banks and traveling for pleasure.
Left to pass on those life lessons are his wife, and three children. To help keep his loving spirit alive are his brothers Wayne Moore (Ann) and Benny Moore and their children Rick (Karen) Moore, Kathy (Barry) Hinchey, Karen Moore, Jeff (Tanya) Moore, and Allison Moore. He will certainly miss watching his grandchildren Joel and Brenna Moore on the football fields as well.
Special thanks to his loving friends and family who helped bring peace and beautiful memories until his last days. Especially to Heather Hicks and Nina Edwards from Interim Care for providing soothing comfort while receiving Hospice at home.
A celebration of Barry's life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, November 27th at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home with an outside reception immediately following at the family's residence, 833 Yorktown Road, Poquoson. Donations can be made to the Poquoson Volunteer Fire and Rescue departments.
