Bennett (Ben) Andrew Tabor passed away unexpectedly in his home on May 17, 2025. He was born on February 25, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents Nolan L. Tabor and Kathryn Jones Tabor and nephew Michael.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cari Pifer Tabor, his children, Heather (Dusty) Price of Poquoson and Joel Tabor of New Mexico, two grandchildren, sisters, Rhonda (George) Glazner of Chesapeake, Tina (Steve) Boyle of Forest, Alice Ann (Carl) Sabatini of North Carolina, Jeanne (Carter) Barnard of Missouri, and Nola (Jeffrey) Sawyer of Virginia Beach. Ben had many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ben built a successful industrial refrigeration business on the peninsula, Ben Tabor’s AC & R, Inc. He had operated his business for 28 years. Before starting his own company, he was an air conditioning mechanic for HM Webb & Associates.
He was generous with his time and skills to help family members and friends repairing or installing A/C units, building decks, installing water heaters, or most anything someone asked him to do.
Ben was most known for being able to repair just about anything and being a great friend. He enjoyed hunting and had been the resident handyman at his hunting lodge. Ben also enjoyed fishing, white water rafting, camping, snow skiing and spending time with his beloved dog, Pistol Pete. He enjoyed being with his extended family. For several years he enjoyed going striper fishing with his brothers-in-law after Thanksgiving dinner.
From a small child, Ben loved Christmas. He enjoyed giving gifts and dressing up as Santa. For many years he delivered treats to the employees of the companies he served. One year Mrs. Claus joined him to spread cheer. He also enjoyed renting a white carriage and horse for family and friends.
