Bettie Forrest Sharp, 83, of Poquoson, VA, passed away on January 18, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1941, at Dixie Hospital in Hampton, VA, to the late Herman and Irene Forrest. A lifelong resident of Poquoson, Bettie attended Poquoson public schools.
Bettie was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 20 years. She was a founding member of the Women’s Volleyball League of Poquoson and a Life Member of the Virginia Jaycettes. For 25 years, she worked as a secretary for the Communications Squadron at Langley Air Force Base, retiring in 2001.
In 1985, Bettie married Terence D. Sharp, with whom she shared a loving marriage and lifelong friendship. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Bettie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Terry Sharp; sister, Fae Mungo; son, Jimmy (Lisa) Walker; daughter, Shannon (Thomas) Martin; stepsons, Robby (Betty) Sharp and Clint Sharp; and nephews, Scott Mungo (Curt) and Keith Mungo. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jeff Mungo, and nephew, Eric Mungo.
Beezie, as she was known by those closest to her, was the beloved grandmother of 11 grandchildren: Ashley (Chris) Maxwell, Taylor (Greg) Goodson, Logan (Luke) Rodgers, Cole (Courtney) Walker, Garrett Ferguson, Lainey Ferguson, Lui Martin, Kai Martin, Olivia Sharp, Nick Sharp, Bryson Sharp, Barrett Sharp, and Chase Wilkins. She also leaves to cherish her memory, 11 great-grandchildren: Kenna, Luke, Locklynn, and Brynlee Maxwell; Blake, Kendall, and Cameron Goodson; Weston Rodgers; Riley and Avery Walker; and Matt Sharp.
Bettie loved camping and the outdoors, spending her summers RVing with her husband and children. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She enthusiastically supported and celebrated her family at birthday parties, sporting events, and all school events, from choir and band concerts to graduations. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Anchor Social Hall, Poquoson, Virginia, on February 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The family welcomes all who wish to join them in remembering Beezie.
