It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Freeman, 81, of Poquoson, on July 16, 2021. Betty grew up in York County and graduated from York High. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas (Buster) Freeman, Jr., her parents, Bennie & Alice Wood, sisters, Shirley Lemonds, Mary Ann Gross, Rose Winder & Virginia Abdill. She is survived by her son, Randy Freeman and wife, Beth, 3 grandchildren, Jacob, Cassidy & Ashley, and 17 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces/nephews.
Betty was well known in the community as the Avon lady which she did for 45 years! She was a Life member of the Poquoson Volunteer Fire Co. and Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Virginia State Firefighters Association Ladies Auxiliary. Betty was always full of energy and a helper for anyone she met. She loved her family and friends and was often seen with her sidekick & niece, Linda Ryan. Betty loved her trips to Disney World and trips to Rosie’s. She loved shopping for others spoiling her family with her finds! She loved cooking and sharing her homemade cakes with all her “kids”.
