Betty Ruth Talley Griffiths

We all have heavy hearts with the passing of our Mother Betty Ruth Talley Griffiths on November 28, 2023.  Betty was born on July 24, 1941 in Goochland, Virginia.

Betty spent her career in food service and made many life long friends along the way.  Everyone was welcome in her home and she was a second Mother to many and they all called her "Mom," however, there were rules and there was never any doubt about where you stood.  Mom loved her time in the kitchen and was a fabulous cook. No one ever left hungry, in fact, you probably had a Cool Whip container of leftovers to take with you and a pound cake.   Betty was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they were the joy of her life.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Ann Eriksen (Joe), her sons, Michael L. Griffiths, II (Shannon), Darryll Griffiths (Tara), several grandchildren and great-grand children.  Betty was predeceased by her son, Aubrey Burgess, Jr. and Michael and Darryll's father, Michael L. Griffiths.  

Betty was also predeceased by her two best friends, Gail and Brenda, aka The Golden Girls.  They are all back together now, likely gathered around a kitchen table drinking coffee and gossiping. 

A visitation will be held at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, VA on December 9, 2023 from 12pm-2pm.  Following the visitation, there will be a gathering at 228 Springdale Way, Hampton, VA.
