Betty Jo Abbott passed away on June 28, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Betty was born in Louisburg, NC on December 14, 1930, to the late Lessie Mae Boone Bowden and Bennett Columbus Bowden.
Betty is reunited with her son, Steve Collins; her parents; sister, Ruby Lewis; brother, Bennett Bowden; infant brother, Linwood; infant grandchildren, twins Daniel and Michael Collins, and Lorriane Collins.
Her memory is cherished by her daughters, Joyce Sobey of Powhatan, VA and Norma Marshpund of Waverly, VA; son, Charles T. “Tom” Collins (Donna) of Chesapeake, VA; 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and 4 more great-great-grands will arrive in 2024; sisters, Dorothea Coley of Nashville, NC and Linda Horseman (Scott) of Clayton, NC; and daughter-in-law, Susan Collins.
Betty loved her family, flowers, anything purple, and her cats, Chevis, Fancy, and Tom. Tom was a great comfort to her in her final days and he is still with us. In many chats with her over the years, she often told us we were always in her prayers. Mom will be forever in our hearts.
