Charles Frederick Pyle Jr. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the age of 60. He was born in Hampton, Virginia and has lived in Poquoson since infancy.
Charlie graduated from Poquoson High School in 1982 and went to work for Newport News Shipbuilding where he was employed until he became ill. During his 41 years at the “Shipyard”, he earned several awards for excellence from both his employer and the U.S. Navy. He loved to hunt, fish, and work on his car, a beautiful 1968 Camaro. He never liked to be inside unless it was in a garage and he never could sit still unless it was in a deer stand. Just like his Dad, he loved to work with his hands and could build or fix anything.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Frederick Pyle, Sr, his sister, Kathryn Yvonne Pyle, and his maternal and paternal grandparents,
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann Pyle, his sister, Denise Junghans (Mike), his niece, Lyndsie Griffiths (Carl) and nephew, Daniel Junghans (Janey) and great-nieces and nephews, Elliana, Micaiah, Laelyn, and Ravi, and his girlfriend, Nancy Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 15th with Pastor Carol Bookwalter officiating at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, with burial following at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to visit and remember Charlie at his mother’s home, 4 Carriage Hill Drive in Poquoson, following the services.
