Christina "Tina" Simone Obituary

May Angels Lead You In

____________________________________________________________________________

Tina unexpectedly passed away on May 1, 2026, in her home of Poquoson. She was born June 24, 1965, in Havre de Grace, Maryland and was adopted by Patricia and John Land. She was the final piece to their family accompanying their son, Johnny.

Their military family traveled all over the world, where Tina quickly experienced incredible adventures early on. She visited (Paris) France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, all before the age of ten. Eventually the family settled back into the United States and found a home in Hampton, Virginia. She graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1983.

Tina could make friends with anyone - she has never met a stranger. Even today, she could call on those friends she made decades ago down in Buckroe Beach. She has the best personality, always giggling and making people laugh. She was sunshine in human form.

During those next five years, she met and married Robert “Bobby” Simone. In 1988, her “Pooh” was born, Robert “Bobby” Simone, Jr. and in 1990, her “Sissy” was born, Brooke Nicole Simone. In February of 1997, she moved Bobby and Brooke to a little place called “Bull Island.” She bought a little white house on Poquoson Avenue and made it a palace – a place of solace for her two children where they stayed for the entirety of their adolescence. She loved to watch her son play football and her daughter cheer along the sidelines at every game.

Poquoson was home to her, always. Even through all of the Hurricane, nor’easter and tropical storm seasons, Tina stayed ready to ride out the storm in Poquoson.

She held various wine and spirit positions throughout her illustrious career, traveling all over the Hampton Roads area to supply those in need. You could always see her smile from across the room and her energy was contagious. It’s no wonder she had no problem making her sales goals during her time as a beer, wine and spirits distributor.

In September of 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. A true fighter, in every sense of the word, Tina did not let cancer define her. If you didn’t know her, you couldn’t tell that she was battling this illness. She exuded happiness, stayed busy devoting her time to her family and friends, her animals and her home.

The most important people in her life were undoubtedly her two children. Tina spoke of them often and regularly let everyone know how proud she was of them both. Brooke went on to Virginia Tech, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Pamplin, College of Business. She eventually moved to Richmond from Blacksburg where she lives today.

Bobby, a jack of all trades, jumped into his professional career after high school excelling immediately. He earned his Master HVAC certification, signifying the highest level of proficiency and requiring extensive hands-on experience.

To know Tina is to know how much she loved and adored her children. She repeated often that Bobby was her soul and Brooke was her heart.

Tina was somebody you could count on, even in her days of weakness, she never faltered.

To say that she will be greatly missed is the understatement of the century.

Tina is survived by her children: Brooke Simone (and her husband, Wesley) and Robert Simone, Jr. (and his wife, Taylor); her former husband, Robert “Bobby” Simone, Sr.; grandchildren: Colton, Henry and Charlotte; her parents: Pat and John Land; brother: John Land (and his wife, TJ); her nieces: Jessica Lynn and Kayla Dawn; and nephews: Justin Arthur and Tyler Sherman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her charity of choice - Compassion for Canines (or, an animal rescue of your choice). Compassion for Canines is a rescue organization that Tina volunteered for. She had a deep love for animals (a Mom of five: Pepper Roni, Cricket, Archie, Theo and Mowgli); she fostered, transported, and rescued several babies for Compassion for Canines - even keeping two of her own, Archie and Cricket, from that organization.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 9th at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson. Our family will receive friends immediately following the service until 3:00 PM.
