Daniel "Wayne" Wilson Obituary

Daniel “Wayne” Wilson, Jr., 62, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2026. He was a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson.

As a young boy, Wayne pulled nets alongside his father and grew up loving baseball and music. During his high school years, he met the love of his life, Lisa Rollins, his “sugar bear”, the jelly to his peanut butter. The two began their journey together while still in high school and shared 43 years of marriage.

Wayne loved making memories with his children and grandchildren. Some of his happiest times were spent camping with family, grilling the day’s catch over an open fire, boating, fishing, and cheering on his favorite teams, especially the Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, and Virginia Cavaliers. He enjoyed following the Little League World Series and loved all things youth sports. Wayne was involved in volunteering alongside his wife in concession stands, coaching, mentoring, and driving the kids to and from practices and games. Wayne also volunteered with Relay for Life. To many, he was a coach, a mentor, a father figure, a loyal friend and loved man.

Wayne dedicated more than 38 years serving as a military contractor at Fort Eustis as a fabric and upholstery technician. He was recognized for his talent in refinishing and refurbishing furniture. Wayne also enjoyed woodworking, history and current events, and all things Poquoson.

Wayne served the Lord at Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Men’s Group, Men’s Choir, and Wesley Fellowship Class.

Wayne is reunited in Heaven with his father, Daniel Wayne Wilson, Sr.; mother, Shirley Adeline Wayne Wilson; and sisters, Sean and Missy Wilson; grandparents, Margaret Lee Firman Wilson and Horace L. Wilson.

His memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Lisa Caryl Wilson Rollins; children, Jason Leigh Wilson (Candy), Robert Wayne Wilson, and Rachel Anne Wilson (Paul Clark); grandchildren, Kayle Marie-Harlow Wilson, Brennan Wilson, Daniel W. Wilson, Jordan Clark, Sophie Clark, Wade Wilson, and Rex Wilson; siblings, Nelson and Michele Wilson; mother-in-law, Cynthia Lowe; brothers-in-law, Andy, John, and Jeffrey Rollins; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home.
