Diana ‘Dee” Jordan, 74, went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2023. Dee was born to Mary Woolard Dowdy and Ray Burton Dowdy in Elizabeth City County, Virginia. She was a resident of Poquoson for 45 years.
Diana started her decades-long career in preschool child development at Playtime Learning Center in Poquoson as a classroom leader. She ended her career in the center’s administrative office.
She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Along with her husband, Rob, Diana was a past youth leader for the church. Diana was very devoted to her family. She always enjoyed family get-togethers and her family’s company.
Diana loved working with people. In recent years, she enjoyed working at Busch Gardens. She also enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dee was a past member of the Poquoson Volunteer Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Dee is reunited in Heaven with her husband of 54 years, Robert Maxwell Jordan, Jr.; parents, Mary and Ray Dowdy.
Her memory is cherished by her children, Roberta “Robbin” Young, Thomas Jordan and wife Robin, Brian Jordan; grandchildren, Colleen Pasco, Megan Young and Graham Martin, Amanda Young, Ethan Jordan, Lindsey Jordan; great-grandchildren, Hayven Houdek and Hunter Young; siblings, Larry Dowdy and wife Ava, Michael Dowdy and wife Diana, David Dowdy, Dixie Jesse, and Linda Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held 6 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home with a visitation immediately following until 8 p.m. The burial will take place privately at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the Gardens at Warwick Forest and Riverside Hospice for their kind support and care during Diana’s illness. Memorial contributions may be made to PAWS (Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary), Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, and Poquoson Volunteer Fire Department.
