Donnie "Mr. Don" Bratcher

Donnie “Mr. Don” Bratcher, 94, of Poquoson, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.   He was born on April 9, 1928 in Kentucky.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 ½ years Liselotte (Charlotte / LOLO) who passed away November 28, 2016.  They met during Don’s military station in Germany.  Don was a veteran of the Korea and Vietnam wars.  He was awarded the Air Force Commander Metal for his outstanding accomplishments during his service in Vietnam and again awarded this metal for his service in headquarters Tactical Air Command at Langley AFB from 1971-1974.   After serving his country for 23 years, he worked and retired from Bendix.  Don loved meeting new people and sharing stories of the past.  He had a special bond with Tonya Freeman and her family.  He said she was the daughter he never had.  His memories are left to be cherished by special friends Katina Henley, Tracy Martin, Rosie and Chad Juhl and their families.  Visiting hours will be 1:00pm – 2:30pm on Saturday, October 1,  2022 at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson.  Don will be laid to rest next to his wife at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
