Douglas Richard “Dickie” Mize, 78, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 24, 2023. He was a native of Burlington, North Carolina. Dickie served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked as a licensed general contractor. He loved the beach, fishing, woodworking, reading, and especially his fur babies.

Dickie is reunited in rest with his parents, Hugh Calvin Mize and Violet Elmore Mize; siblings, Robert Elmore Mize, Hugh Calvin Mize, Patricia Anne Lineberry, and Eric Lee Mize. His memory is cherished by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda O. Mize; daughters, Linda Annette Moretz, Emily Lynn Wyatt (Jeff); grandchildren, Cynthia and James; great-grandchild, Braxton; extended grandchildren, Brandy and Eric; extended great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ellie, and Carson; siblings, Hazel Ruth Vinson, Iris Nell Sechrist, Betty Jane Pore (Butch), David Wayne Mize (Dale); sister-in-law, Carolyn Mize.
 

A memorial service will be held at Burlington Assembly of God, 821 Tucker Street in Burlington on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local humane society.
