Edgar “Bubba” Collier, Jr was born on Gwynn’s Island February 8, 1934 to Edgar Collier Sr and Cordelia Nunn Collier. He was predeceased by his wife Lois Dryden Collier, his sisters Shirley Talley and Mary Acol and his brother Raymond “Bo” Collier. He has now been reunited with his loving wife Lois.
After graduating from Hampton High School Edgar joined the US Navy. After serving in the military he went to work at NASA as an outdoor machinist. Shortly after retiring from NASA he opened Bubba’s Ships Galley Family Restaurant. It remained open until November 2007 when the property was sold for new development.
Edgar was a proud mason with his home lodge being Poquoson 49. He was a life member of many lodges and a member at many more. He served as Master of Poquoson Lodge in 1987 and later as Grand District Deputy for District 14A.
He is survived by his daughter Carolyn Baughman and her husband Bruce, granddaughter Kristen Baughman, great grandson Braden Bucklin, sister Sandra Kochersperger and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Oh and one young punk, James Freeman, who graciously agreed to do the eulogy.
