Edward B. Roberts

We are sad to announce the passing of Edward B. Roberts of Poquoson, VA.  He passed away peacefully with his daughter at his bedside on December 1st, 2023 of natural causes.  He was 80 years old. 

Edward was born and raised in Durham, NC.  He proudly served in the US Navy and earned his degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University.  Ed had a passion for adventure and was a lifetime learner. He was a Mason, a private pilot, and an avid sailor, member & former Commodore of Poquoson Yacht Club/Melbourne Yacht Club, as well as an accomplished musician playing guitar and piano.  He crewed on a small sailboat across the Atlantic Ocean and self-published a work of fiction based on his observations of life and living.  He loved all creatures great and small and never met an animal he couldn’t love.  

He is survived by his wife Virginia Roberts of Poquoson, his sister Susan Gatewood of Newport News, his son Butch Roberts of Melbourne, FL and daughter Betsey Cobb of Wake Forest, NC as well as five grandchildren. 

Services are to be determined.
