Elizabeth "Betty" A. Romney 76, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Woodlawn, MD and a resident of Yorktown for the past 9 years, Betty was born to the late Carroll E. and Mary A. Romney, Sr. Growing up in Woodland Betty was surrounded by loving family and wonderful friends. She enjoyed school and stayed active with Alumni gatherings over the years. Betty took great pride in her work and the friendships she made while working for C&P Phone Company, DEC (Digital Equipment Corp) and the World Bank.
Betty's greatest love was that of her family, friends, children and grandchildren. As a mother, she taught all of us how to be patient, generous, loving and kind.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents and brother, Carroll E. Romney, Jr., Betty is survived by her children, Michael J. Jones, Sr. (Lisa) of Poquoson; daughter, Leslie A. Pearre (Barry C.) of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Michael J. Jones, Jr. of Hampton, Colleen E. Pratt (Aaron) of Manchester, MD, Andrew J.; Pearre and Corey M. Pearre of Conway, SC; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Elliot as well as many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 - 4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
