Ellen “Faye” Turner, 81 a native of Bath, N.C., and Poquoson resident the past 41 years, passed away on January 1st, 2021. She retired from Poquoson public school system where she was a bus driver for over 30 years. Faye drove, and cherished “her school kids”, driving multiple generations for Poquoson schools. She was a faithful member of Emmaus Baptist Church since moving to Poquoson. Faye served the community for over a decade helping with Emmaus’ work camps. Faye enjoyed staying active in her senior years and enjoyed bowling with the senior league.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George Robert “Bobby” Turner Sr.; her parents, Jamie and Retha Sullivan; a brother Buddy Sullivan, and a sister Nellie Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter, Debra T. “Debbie” Nadeau and husband Bob of Poquoson; her son, George R. “Rob” Turner Jr. and wife Jennifer of Yorktown; four grandchildren, B.J. Nadeau, Amanda Nadeau, Jacob Turner, and Brandon Turner; two sisters, Ebby Smith and Mavis West; four nieces, and four nephews.
The family will have a private service (due to current health restrictions in Virginia) Thursday January 7th at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Scott Wade of Emmaus Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
