Evelyn Wilson Parker died on September 28, 2023. Evelyn was born on Dec 31, 1938, to the late Clyde L. Wilson and Margaret Ione Perkins Wilson at Lakewood, NY. She lived in Poquoson for many years. She was an avid member of the Poquoson Garden Club, the Women’s Club, and the Horticultural Society. She was also a Master Gardener and Naturalist.
A Mayflower descendent, she was a proud member of the D.A.R. She was generous, caring and giving of her time and resources to the community. She volunteered at the Food Bank and was a member of the staff at the Bargain Box as well as serving on the Board. A project of which was very fond was The Memory Tree, which contained the names of people the community wished to especially remember.
A graduate of Penn State University, she later earned a Master’s degree. She joined the Civil Service, first as an Auditor, then as a Management Analyst at Fort Monroe, Virginia, winning several awards for her outstanding service.
She leaves a sister and a niece in NC, a nephew, his wife, a grandniece, in CA and many friends to mourn her passing. A private interment will be held in NY. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Poquoson.
