Fae Forrest Mungo Obituary

(Florence) Fae Forrest Mungo, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. A native of Poquoson, Virginia, she was born to the late Herman T. and Irene Watkins Forrest.

Fae spent her career working for the civil service at Langley Air Force Base, working in AFETS, supply and Aircraft Maintenance Financial Management for almost 40 years.  It was there that she earned the nickname “Mama Warbucks”.

Fae was an avid reader, and she loved to travel. She was a sports enthusiast, loving golf, baseball, all women's sports, and the Washington Redskins. She served on the Poquoson Planning Commission. She was a member of the Poquoson recovery and rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Isabel. Fae was also a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served on several leadership committees, and the Wesley Fellowship Class, where she loved leading adult Sunday school.

Fae was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jeff; son, Eric Mungo; and her only sibling, Bettie Sharp. She is survived by sons, Scott Mungo (Curt) and Keith Mungo; granddaughter, Erin Wright (Robert) and great grandchildren, Raelyn and Connor; brothers-in-law Terry Sharp, James "Jimbo" Walker (Dianne), George B Mungo; sisters-in-law Mae Faile, Doris Mungo, Pauline Mungo; and three generations of nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House of Williamsburg (https://williamsburghospice.org/donations/support). This is an amazing hospice organization that cared for Fae in her last days.

A celebration of life will be held from 3 - 5 p.m. Sunday, August 23rd, at The Anchor Social Hall, 475 Wythe Creek Rd suite J, Poquoson, VA 23662. Please come join the family for food and fellowship as they celebrate Fae's life.
