Faye Holloway Trantham

Faye Holloway Trantham, 78, a Poquoson native and lifelong resident passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, surrounded by her family. Faye was born in Messick (Poquoson). Virginia on April 13, 1943, to the late Benjamin Holston and Christine Rowe Holloway. Faye met her lifelong love, Tom Trantham in Poquoson and they were married for 61 wonderful years.

Throughout her career, Faye worked many years at Maida Development Company and Roses in Hampton, Virginia. In 1972, she became a school bus driver for the City of Poquoson. During this time, she also worked in the deli and snack bar at Farm Fresh in Poquoson – officially retiring in 2012 after 39 years.

Faye was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson. She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Poquoson Fire Department.

Faye is reunited in Heaven with her husband, John T. (Tom) Trantham; parents; sisters, Doris H. Brown, and Miriam H. Jobe; brother, Benjamin H. Holloway, Jr; and son-in-law, Jay Morehouse.

Her memory is cherished by her daughters, Kandie T. Morehouse of Poquoson, Karen T. Gandy and husband Arthur of Yorktown; son, John T. (Bo) Trantham, Jr. and Angie of Poquoson; grandchildren, Nicole M. Gardner of Lynchburg, Nicholas M. Morehouse and wife Annabelle of Yorktown, Kayla T. Waterfield and husband Brian of Chesapeake; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Grace, and Luke Morehouse, and Ava Gardner; sister, Elaine Lupo Keenan and husband Ray of Poquoson, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Faye’s special friends, Elaine Holloway, Julie Forrest, Geneva Williams, and Paulette Holloway for their many years of friendship and support. Also, a special thanks to niece, Joanne MacDowell and cousin, Curtis and wife Anita for all the wonderful memories, love, and support.

The family will receive friends at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 12:00PM – 1:00PM with a funeral service beginning at 1:00PM. Committal will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton.

The family will be gathering at 53 Hudgins Road both prior to visitation and following the interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
