Floyd Brooks Mason, 77, was called Home on Saturday December 5, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Floyd was born on August 23rd 1943 in Dixie Hospital in Hampton. Floyd, a native Bull Islander, grew up on Church St. and resided in Poquoson his whole life. Floyd served in the US Army and retired Civil Service at Ft. Eustis. Floyd also went out on scallop boats, and fished crab pots. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Thomas Mason and Mary Jane Carmines, his brother Tommy Mason, his cousin Linda Christian, and many more family and friends. His devoted wife of 42 years, Joyce Mason, cared for him in their home, as she promised, until the end. He is survived by his wife Joyce Mason, his son Ralph Mason, favorite grandchild Caden Mason, granddaughter Amanda King (Christopher Bartlett), and his great-grandson Grant King. Services will be provided by Claytor Rollins Funeral Home and visitation will be at his home in Poquoson. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Parklawn in Hampton on Wednesday December 9th 2020. A special thank you to all of the neighbors and friends who supported him and Joyce for the duration of Floyd's illness. The doctors at the VA Hospital in Hampton and the hospice care team could not have been better. In lieu of flowers Floyd requested that donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
