Frances Hubbard Jones

Our dear mother Frances Hubbard Jones sadly passed away on July 14, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born in Hampton VA in 1944 and later moved to the Denbigh section of Newport News, VA where she met and married her first love, the boy next door, Jimmy Jones and raised four children after settling in Poquoson VA. Frances was a wonderful mother who was always there when her family needed her. She was active in Bethel Baptist Church, Poquoson Baptist Church, and Messick Baptist Church in her early years. She later owned and operated Back River Market for 12 years in Poquoson VA with her loving husband. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook a good southern meal for her family. She was a wealth of information for anything from gardening and canning to sewing and rare historical facts. She was very loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Frances is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Jimmy B. Jones, who stood by her side and provided her with the best of care during her prolonged illness. She was proceeded in death by her Mother, Helen Carpenter Carmines and Stuart Carmines, Father Calvin Britten Hubbard, sister Novella Hubbard Cauley, grandson Russell “Bubba” Britten Forrest and great-grandsons Williams Elijah Winn and Zechariah Russell Winn. She is also survived by her sister Arlene Stubbs and four loving children, Tammy Forrest (Russell Forrest) of Gloucester, VA; Duane Jones, (Tammy Jones) of Williamsburg VA; Jimmy “Randy” Jones (Cristina Quintero) of Poquoson, VA, and Angela Winn (Douglas Winn) of Poquoson, VA. Her grandchildren: Holly Forrest, Samuel Forrest (Jordan Forrest), Victor Jones, Benjamin Jones (Joslynne Jones), Jimmy Jones (Shannon Jones), Beth Ann Jones (Alden Lumagi), Jack Jones (Jennifer Jones), Nicholas Watkins, Brooke Goodson (Derek Goodson), Lauren Wyatt (Russell Wyatt), and William “Hunter” Winn (Ryann Winn). She leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren: Brantley Jones, Teagan Jones, AJ Lumagui, Jett Lumagui, Nolan Lumagui, Colton Lumagui, Shepard Lumagui, Edgar Barros, Shane Jones, Dawn Jones, Sadie Jones, Jackson Jones, Farrah Jones, Makayla Goodson, Mason Goodson, Aria Wyatt, Emerson Wyatt, Willow Wyatt, Liam Winn, and Lilly Grace Winn. 
The viewing will be held at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home located at 836 Poquoson Ave, Poquoson VA on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 5pm-7pm. The funeral service will be held at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home located at 836 Poquoson Ave, Poquoson VA at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 and officiated by William “Hunter” Winn, followed by the graveside services at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton VA.
The family will be receiving guests at 49 Carriage Hill Drive in Poquoson. VA.
