Frank Edward Roundy, 87, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2025. He was born on December 19, 1937, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Paul Everett Roundy and Anna (Becker) Roundy.
Frank proudly served his country for nearly six years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, where he worked as a firefighter. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and joined the Hampton Fire Department, dedicating his life to public service and the safety of others. He was the original “Sparky the Fire Dog” for the City of Hampton, delighting children while teaching fire safety in the community. Frank retired in 1991 with the rank of Lieutenant after a long and distinguished career.
After retirement, he continued serving the community as a private investigator and later worked part-time at Buckroe Florist, which later became Becky’s Buckroe Florist.
Frank met his beloved wife, Annie Laura (Freeman) Roundy, through the 4-H program, and the two were married on May 1, 1959, at her parents’ home in Poquoson, Virginia. They shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion to family and community.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Annie Laura Roundy; his son, Ronald Lee Roundy; brothers, George Everett Roundy and Robert Ernest Roundy, Sr.; and his sister, Mary Lou (Roundy) Guzik.
He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Roundy and Karen (Roundy) Sparrow, both of Hampton; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory always.
Frank will be remembered for his quick wit, dedication, and lifelong spirit of service—whether in uniform, at work, or among friends and family.
In keeping with his wishes, his funeral will be private, with a Celebration of Life to be held in the coming weeks.
