James T. Holloway, Jr., born 3/11/1943, a lifelong resident of Poquoson, entered his heavenly home in the presence of the Lord on November 5, 2022. After graduating from Poquoson High and Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School, he accomplished and positively impacted much while working at NN Shipbuilding and John J. McMullen & Associates. He was drawn by his heritage and love of the water to be a waterman for a few years. Jim served the City of Poquoson as Planning Commission Chairman, on the Board of Zoning Appeals and most notably, Poquoson City Councilman where he was instrumental in the planning and construction of the “new” city hall complex, which proudly displays his name on the inside wall plaque. Each family member held a unique place in his heart as did his pets through the years. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jocelyn Holloway; his sister, Linda Holloway; and his daughter, Joanne Leigh Holloway. He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of nearly 59 years, Barbara F. Holloway; his two daughters, Angie Harrington (Steve); Denise Chapman (Buddy); Wade Harrington II and 5 grandchildren, Thomas Guglielmo (Alexa), Wade Harrington III (Jenna), Jesse Chapman, Heather H. Diable (Alec), Mitchell Harrington along with 5 great grandchildren, extended family, and close friends. A service will be held on November 9th, 1:00pm at Keep The Promise Ministries at 402 Wythe Creek Road, Poquoson, with Buddy Chapman officiating. The family requests expressions of sympathy be sent to PAWS (Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary) or to Keep The Promise Ministries. A special thank you to all who lovingly offered their kind hearts and hands through the difficult time.
