Jason "Jay" Christopher Layman

Jason Layman passed away peacefully on July on July 27, 2025, at his home in Yorktown.

He was born to Richard and Sonia Truitt Layman in their hometown of Charleston, West Virginia in 1964. Soon after the Layman’s moved to Poquoson.

Jay grew up in Poquoson and graduated from Poquoson High School in 1982. He graduated from Christopher Newport College in 1990 with a degree in accounting. Jason was a Dale Earnhardt fan. He was also a Star Wars aficionado and an avid toy collector. He was known for his gentle soul, kindness and generosity. Jay will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jay is survived by his brother, Guy and wife Betsy of Poquoson, and his nephews, Truitt and Patrick.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
