Jo Ella Evans, 69, was called home, Thursday, 23, 2023. A lifelong resident of Poquoson, Jo Ella was born May 19, 1953, to the late Jack Evans and Jean Lane. Jo Ella worked as a banker, and later, a teacher at Woodside High School. She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching her grandchildren in Cheerleading, show choir and volleyball. Jo Ella was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Karen Steel, Jo Ella is survived by her children, Cassandra Ward (David) and Trey Lawrence; grandchildren Ava Gorman and Emma Ward (Who affectionately knew her as “Big Mama”.
A celebration of Jo Ella’s life will take place 5 p.m. Thursday, March 9th at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bob Cooper.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Judy Hahn and the Poquoson High School Class of 1971, and the OWLS of Woodside High School in Newport News.
