Joanne Gordon Obituary

Joanne Grace Gordon, 85, of Williamsburg finally was reunited with the love of her life early Saturday morning. Joanne was born in Detroit, MI to Joseph Gavrich and Rose Scott. Her family moved to Glendale, California when she was young.

Joanne loved all things outdoors very much, a tomboy growing up she loved to climb trees, enjoyed the beach and later the mountains. Joanne and Bob raised their family in La Crescenta, California. Joanne was a bluebird and campfire girl leader and was always at kids’ events with Bob in tow. Their love for one another is a love story that can never be matched. The “Beautiful Wife” loved “Her Robert” with a steadfast undying strength.  Never far from each other usually holding hands they could bring a smile to anyone’s face that saw them coming. They loved their coffee in the am and their gin at 4 pm.  They moved to Bullhead Arizona after retirement from the family business, Clark Tool Company; and loved the adventures they could have… dinner on the river and a little video poker followed by a nightcap at the local watering hole. They traveled the U.S. and Baja in their motorhome. They enjoyed motorcycle riding, jet skiing, and off roading. They enjoyed years of adventure in their airplane which Joanne learned to fly. Once grandkids started arriving Joanne and Bob moved to Virginia to be more active with the kids. Joanne was a wonderful cook and entertainer; her parties were always filled with laughter, food and cocktails. Her smile was contagious and infectious; her positive attitude was something to be admired as well as her patience, especially with Bob. Joanne had a great artistic instinct; her paintings and drawings could sweep you right to the place she was in. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents and her forever love, Bob. She is survived by her sons Rob Gordon, HI, Lee Gordon, CA and her daughter Michelle (Jay) Long of Williamsburg, VA. And her precious grandkids Mitch, VA, Jaycee, TX and Bobby Long, VA.

The family would like to thank York Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their constant and kind care in the past year. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Jude’s.
