Joesph Leon Nicosia, Sr. born February 21, 1967, took his final sail out to sea, March 4th, 2023. Leon was a lifelong resident of Poquoson Virginia. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Leon was a great father, friend, uncle, nephew, brother and son. He was very dedicated to his work as a Waterman, working on the “Samantha K”. He enjoyed being around his friends and family and most importantly making everyone smile. His laugh was contagious, and his heart was full. Preceded in death by his son, Joseph Leon Nicosia, Jr, father, Joseph Anthony Nicosia, Jr.; maternal, grandparents Leon Ambrose Blount, Jr. and Mary Avis Rollins Jones; paternal grandparents, Joseph Anthony Nicosia, Sr, and Katherine Holloway Nicosia, Leon is survived by daughter, Mary Jane Nicosia; mother, Jean Merriel Blount; sister, Bonnie Nicosia King; niece, Samantha Katherine King; grandmother, Mary Ellen Blount; aunt, Stephanie Jane Stockum and husband Bob; uncle Timothy Wayne Blount and wife Cathy. Significant other, Shannon Marie Bryant as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends. A celebration of life will be held 5 p.m. Friday, March 17th at the Poquoson Womens Club, 9 Cedar Road, Poquoson, VA 23662 and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Claytor Rollins Funeral Home
to help offset expenses.
