John Aronson Obituary

John Brian Aronson, 52, of Yorktown, VA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family as he was delivered into the hands of God on September 19, 2022.

John was born to Fred and Agnes (Granger) Aronson on August 31, 1970 in Ft Meade, Maryland. Fred served 31 years in the United States Air Force so John and his sister Aileen spent their childhood traveling all over the United States and many countries of Europe, calling “home” wherever the Air Force sent their dad.

John was a graduate of Poquoson High School in 1988. He loved high school sports and was active on the Bull Islander’s football team. After graduation he attended Old Dominion University and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. From there his career accelerated while working for the firm BETAC. Personnel at the company’s headquarters in Washington DC noticed his talents and he was transferred to their corporate offices. From there John grew and expanded his work experience and pursued computer engineering  opportunities. As his career expanded so did his social contacts and he met the love of his life, Elise Kenderian. After an extended courtship the two were married in 2004 in Washington DC and they settled in a modest home in nearby Alexandria, VA. They had their first baby in 2009, a fine boy named John (aka: Jack).

By now John was working for the Adobe Corporation in support of our armed forces around the globe. He loved his country and had a strong sense of pride and dedication to the work he was doing. When asked to volunteer for a one-year civilian assignment to Afghanistan he didn’t hesitate. After his return his family had grown to four when his daughter Sona was born in 2012. John loved his family and his affection for his children grew beyond measure.

In 2021 John decided to leave Washington and move back home to be near Poquoson where he grew up and went to school. He also wanted to be near his parents to help them as they enjoyed their “golden years”. It was his way of returning to his roots to enjoy the fruits of life with family and old friends.

All who knew John considered him a loyal and trusted friend, and to his family he was a loving and devoted son, brother and father. Throughout his life he continued to love sports and was particularly fond of football. He could tell you the sports statistics of every football team and every player, and he followed the Dallas Cowboys faithfully. He had a bigger than life smile and an infectious laugh that friends and family could recognize anywhere. We shall miss him dearly for “He was taken away too soon”.

John is survived by his parents, Fred and Agnes (Granger) Aronson, his sister Aileen Aronson, his nephew Andrew Girard, his loving children Jack and Sona Aronson, and many other family and friends who loved him.

The family will receive friends at the Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, 836 Poquoson Ave, Poquoson, VA 23662 for a “Celebration of Life” service on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 1:00 pm in the chapel.
