John Garland "Gibby" Gibbons, Jr.

John Garland “Gibby” Gibbons, Jr., 33, was called Home on September 30, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. Born on September 7, 1988, Gibby was a native of Poquoson and resided there for 28 years. Gibby loved spending his time outdoors – fishing, boating, hunting, music, and teaching his nephew, Matthew how to shoot his B.B. gun. He worked as a commercial waterman and in the carpentry trade. Gibby was a Methodist and attended Chestnut Memorial Preschool.

Gibby is reunited in Heaven with his grandparents, Dallas and Jean Gibbons; grandma, Barbra Kinze; great-uncle, Vic, and uncle, Michael.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, Thomas P. Gibbons and wife Dee Dee; daddy, Johnny G. Gibbons, Sr.; mother, Lori Michelle Gibbons; sister, Brandi N. Gibbons; step-brother, Scott Jackson; step-sister, Jennifer Rogers;  nephews, Matthew A. Lambert and Lashawn L. Pearson, Jr.; and niece, Rilynn A. Pearson.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Poquoson Volunteer Fire Company and/or Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad. Online condolences to claytorrollins.com.
