John T. Trantham Sr., age 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 surrounded by his family at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Tom was born in Fines Creek, N.C. on May 18, 1938 to the late Francis Carl and Pearl Cogdill Trantham. Tom met his wife, Faye Holloway Trantham, in Poquoson, VA where they were married for 61 wonderful years.
Tom worked as a Supervisor in the Newport News Public Works Division for 25 years. Retired in 2000, he enjoyed spending his free time camping, maintaining his yard and home, enjoying meals out with friends, and supporting his family in their many endeavors.
Along with his wife, Tom was survived by his daughters, Kandie Morehouse and Karen Gandy (Arthur); son, John T. Trantham Jr. (Angie); grandchildren, Nicole Gardner, Nicholas Morehouse (Annabelle), and Kayla Waterfield (Brian); and great grandchildren, Gabriel, Grace, Luke, and Ava. He was also survived by his sister, Mary “Francine” Ledford (Calvin), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Yuman, Roy, Robert, and Paul Trantham; sisters, Irene Allen, Lucy Biddix, Susie Davis, Ethel Trantham, and Frankie Grindstaff; and son-in-law, Jay Morehouse.
Public visitation and services will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in Tom’s name to the Poquoson Volunteer Fire Company at P.O. Box 2404, Poquoson, VA 23662.

following the interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
