John Franklin Fedder, III (“Jack”) was called Home on January 10, 2022. Jack was a longtime resident of Yorktown, Virginia.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Fedder, Jr. (“Johnny”) and Norma Wright Moore Fedder Boyle. He is survived by his wife of 53.5 years, Carolyn Grissom Fedder, his daughters, Connie Thomas-McKinley (Gray) and Christy Fedder Helsel (Brian), grandchildren Hailey Thomas, Wyatt Helsel, Reece Thomas and Avery Helsel, step-grandchildren Morgan McKinley and Turner McKinley. Jack is also survived by his sister, Nancy Fedder Brigham (Michael) and two nieces.
Jack graduated from Poquoson High School, attended Virginia Commonwealth University for his undergraduate studies and received his masters’ degree from Virginia Tech. He served in the Navy during Vietnam and retired from Civil Service in 2012. After retiring, Jack became a Master Gardner and thoroughly enjoyed working in his garden and helping take care of the Poquoson Learning Garden. He loved spending time with his family, driving his Corvette, watching Virginia Tech sports (go Hokies) and attending Bethel Baptist Church.
A private interment was held on January 14, 2022 and a Celebration of Life will be February 19, 2022 at 11:00am at Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering at Bethel Baptist Church.
