John "Johnny" Garland Gibbons, Sr.

John (Johnny) G. Gibbons, Sr, 60, made his sudden journey into the Promised Land on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Johnny was a native of Newport News but called Poquoson home for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his family, his children and grandchildren, boating, camping, fishing, cookouts, NASCAR, road trips, and watching Spongebob Squarepants. He was an avid music lover and attended concerts often. Johnny also helped with the Seafood Festival. One of his most notable achievements in life was his marriage and devotion to his wife, Lori, where every thought is filled with memories of her “ole boy”. Johnny worked as a waterman, plumber fisherman, lifeguard, mechanic, and swimmer. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Johnny is reunited with his son, John G. “Gibby” Gibbons, Jr.; parents, Dallas and Jean Gibbons; uncle, Victor Page; and aunt, Pam Page.
His memory is cherished by his loving wife of 34 years, Lori M. “Lou” Gibbons; children, Brandi N. Gibbons; son-in-law, LaShawn Lewis Pearson, Sr.; grandchildren, Mathew Allens Lambert, Rilynn Alexa Pearson,  LaShawn Lewis (Juney) Pearson, Jr.; brother, Thomas Page Gibbons; sister-in-law, Dee Dee Gibbons; along with other aunts, cousins, friends, and family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home from 5:30-7:00 PM. at In lieu of flowers, please contribute funds to the services for Johnny.
