K9 Rena Poquoson Police Department

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of K9 Rena. K9 Rena was an amazing partner and friend of the members of the Poquoson Police Department for the past 7 years. Please keep K9 Rena's family, both at work and at home, in your thoughts. K9 Rena's passing was unexpected but due to natural circumstances. More information will be posted as soon as it is available regarding a memorial service.

Donations may be dropped off at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. or directly through the Poquoson Police Foundation website listed below. Please help us in remembering Rena and supporting this local community foundation. A drop box has been placed in the lobby of our funeral home and will be available at the Memorial Service.

A Memorial Service honoring Rena's life and service will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at Phillips Park between Poquoson High School and Poquoson Primary School. Rena will be escorted from the Poquoson City Hall to Phillips Park beginning at 5:15 p.m. via Victory Boulevard, Wythe Creek Road, Poquoson Avenue and finally Odd Road. If you cannot attend the service we are asking that the residence of Poquoson safely stand along the route to pay tribute to our fallen K9 Officer. Those attending the service will be allowed to park at both the middle school and high school parking lots. Please observe social distancing and wear masks.

UPDATE: Due to the approaching weather Rena's service will be held at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home. Law Enforcement vehicles will have reserved parking at the funeral home. All civilian attendees are being asked to park across the street at Tabernacle United Methodist Church. There will be limited room due to COVID restrictions but we will do our best to accommodate those who attend. K9 Officers and their partners will be allowed and encouraged to attend the services inside the funeral home. The procession will remain on the same route but continue straight to Claytor Rollins.
