Larry “Katch” Maynard, 61 went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2023 following a brave fight with cancer. Born in Lawrence, Kansas where he got his name from. He grew up in Makakilo, Oahu, Hawaii. He served in the Navy proudly for 23 years as a Chief Petty Officer, a leader, and a friend. He served the Navy as an aviation ordnanceman, gunner’s mate, and as a career counselor. Katch received the highest decorations including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service medal.
He was a devoted Christian, who attended Waters Edge Church with his family. He loved reading, naps, and animals- especially his dogs and grand dogs. He was the funniest Pop Pop to his grandkids. He was a generous man who cared for all.
He leaves the love of his life, his wife of 15 years, Marie. And their children- Ashley, Matthew, Logan, Ember, Becky, Josh (Liz), and Ashley (Josh). And their grandchildren- CJ, Noel, Fisher, Jacob, Brody, David, and Cole. Also, he leaves his father- Robert “Buck” Maynard and his brothers- Kevin Maynard (Heriuter), Robert Maynard, and Paul Maynard (Jennifer). His brother-in-law Preston (Julie). And many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death my his mother- Nancy Maynard, his in-laws Bobby and Margie Fowler, and his grandparents Fred and Helene Maynard, and Wendell and Mable Russell.
The family will receive friends 7:30 - 9 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
