Loretta Sutton, 75, of Yorktown, went to peaceful sleep on Friday, July 11, 2025.
Loretta was the wife of William Robert Sutton, for the last 37 years. Loretta and William were high school sweethearts in Poquoson High School in 1965, but life sent them on different journeys until 1988 when they met and married. This was a blessing for them both.
Loretta was preceded in death by her mother, Deloris Phaup Forrest and her father, George William “Big Bill” Forrest of Poquoson.
Loretta and William were the founders of the Enchanted Forrest Caterers in Yorktown and catered many events in the Hampton Roads area until they retired in 2007.
She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown, a member of the Gertrude Carmines Circle, former member of Sarah Sudduth Circle (UMW), and a member of UMC Lay Speakers Ministries. Loretta enjoyed working with the Crazy Quilts Group at church making bed rolls for homeless, making Prayer Shawls, and enjoyed traveling with the St. Luke’s Travelers and Lunch Bunch and driving the Church Bus.
Loretta enjoyed working with the 4-year-old Sunday School Class, helping with the Wednesday Night Dinners and Vacation Bible School. She was an alternate money counter for the church, usher, and loved taking care of the pastor’s children when they needed an overnight sitter. Having no children of her own – her church provided her with many children to love.
A memorial celebration service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Burial will be private.
Loretta asks you remember her by spending more time with your loved ones and tell them how important they are to you.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes that contributions be made to help the living. Lackey Free Clinic in Yorktown; St. Luke’s UMC Food Closet, Yorktown, or Arthritis Foundation of Hampton Roads.
As Jesus said in Matthew 25:40 - “just as you do for the least of these you do for me”.
