Lori Wilson Obituary

Lori Pruitt Wilson went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2022, at her home in Poquoson, Virginia. She was born August 20, 1970, to Harry Lee Pruitt and Dot McNeil Pruitt in Newport News, Virginia. Lori graduated from Poquoson High School in 1988 and Roanoke College in 1992. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Lori was a true educator with a career spanning over 24 years.  She shared her love and passion for education with her students in Newport News and Gloucester before medically retiring from York High School in 2016. After being a resident of Newport News, Virginia, for 16 years, Lori’s family moved to Poquoson in 1986. With the help of the Edwards family, Lori developed a love for Nascar. Lori and Andy’s paths crossed when Andy began working on the same race crew as her dad.  Little did they know that years later, they would wed in 2011, and welcome their greatest accomplishment, Aubrey Lahyns Wilson, in 2012. Everyone who knew Lori knew her life was complete from that day forward. Lori loved supporting her family. She lived for being a dance mom, a girl scout co-leader, and a cheer mom, and she supported Aubrey in any activity Aubrey chose to participate in. Lori never missed an opportunity to support her nieces and nephews in their school programs and sporting activities. Lori had many titles: beloved daughter, cherished sister, loving wife, super mommy, fabulous aunt, great aunt, devoted friend, and her latest title as a grandmother.  Lori was loved by all.  Her infectious smile lit up a room and never faded, even while battling her chronic lung disease. Lori never complained and was known as “The Favorite Patient” by her doctors and nursing staff.

Lori is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Floyd and Frances Pruitt, maternal grandparents Paul and Nettie McNeil; uncle, Thomas “Tommy” Hale, and great niece, Sweet Savannah Elain Davis.

While we will miss Lori’s presence here, we know she is in the presence of the One who makes all things new.  She leaves behind a precious family that longs to see her again: her husband, Andrew Joseph Wilson; their daughter, Aubrey, and stepson, Chad Martin (Tara Bowman); her parents, Harry and Dot Pruitt; brother, Chris Pruitt; sister, April Jones (Steve), and sister Nina Edwards (James Jackson).

In addition to Lori’s immediate family, she also leaves to cherish her memory:  Special Aunt Lois “Sissy” Hale; second mom, Dianna Edwards; mother-in-law, Annie Fagan (Howard); sister-in-law, Diane “Renae” Davis (Curtis “Dale”); nephews, Kyle Jones, Jared Jones, Dalton Jones, Mason Pruitt, Brandon Davis, and Phillip Davis; nieces, Meghan Jones, Greer Cooper, Kendra Lee, Emily Pruitt, Cortney Jones, Avery Pruitt, and Ashleigh Davis; great-nephews Asher Jones, Easton Jones, and Austin Davis; great-nieces, Graysen Jones, Charlie Block, and Kennedy Davis; granddaughter, Keelson Martin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

We want to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dana Albon, and the University of Virginia Medical Center staff for the loving care Lori and her family received during her battle with chronic lung disease.
