Louise Rebecca West, 78, passed away on April 14, 2026, due to a long illness. She was born on January 2, 1948, in Hampton, where she remained a lifelong resident. Louise married the love of her life, Raymond West, on July 9, 1965, and they shared nearly 40 years of marriage until his passing.
Louise was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She also held various jobs in her earlier years, including work at a dry cleaners, Maida, and providing home cleaning services. In the early 1980s, she returned to school to earn her G.E.D.
A faithful member of Hampton Baptist Church, Louise was actively involved in her church community, including assisting with Vacation Bible School programs in earlier years.
She found joy in tending to her summer vegetable garden, creating arts and crafts, exploring thrift stores, playing bingo, cooking, traveling, and spending time at the beach. Louise also gave back to her community through charitable collecting and volunteering at the hospital.
Louise was reunited with her beloved husband, Raymond West; parents, Ethel L. Gray and Harry J. Gray, Sr.; brother, Harry J. Gray, Jr.; and aunt and uncle, Mattie L. Cooke and Marvin Cooke.
Her memory is cherished by her son, Raymond Lee West; Carol and Tommy Mann, along with numerous friends and extended family members. She is also remembered with gratitude by her caregivers, Yaann Smith, Angie Statts, Dawn Francis, and Latisha Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
