Lynn Jackson Darlington, 57, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020, peacefully at home. Lynn was born in Wichita, Kansas and as a military brat, she lived in various places throughout the United States and Canada. Lynn resided in Poquoson, Virginia for twenty-seven years and considered it home. She graduated from Poquoson High School in 1981 and later went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Radford University. Lynn currently worked for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Lynn is survived by her husband of one year, John Darlington; daughters, Savannah Lynn Russo (Sal) and Maren Sue Eck; grandson, Paul Monroe “Roe” Russo; granddaughter, Laylin Darlington; sister, Dr. Donna Poland; brother, Franklin Monroe Jackson Jr. (Michelle); nieces; Caitlin Poland, Chloe Jackson, and Mikayla Jackson; nephews; Matthew Poland and Franklin Monroe Jackson III; and her faithful companions, Della and Felix.
Lynn is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Cameron Jackson and her father, Franklin Monroe Jackson.
Lynn loved spending time at the beach and vacationing but she especially loved being “Mimi” to her grandson Roe. She was always excited to take adventures with her husband John and loved their time together. Family gatherings and holidays were also a big part of her life.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at 6:00 PM at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM following. Lynn was an organ donor and although she is no longer with us, her life will continue to bless others. Lynn was also a lover of animals. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lynn’s honor to the Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary (P.A.W.S.). Online condolences to claytorrollins.com.
